DOUBLE TAPER (DT) - A type of line that has a casting taper (the point and front taper) on both ends and no running line. Because it is totally reversible, and therefore usable once the front end has become frayed, and because it provides delicacy because of the relatively thin casting taper, it is a favorite choice of beginner and intermediate anglers who fish small to medium size trout streams. The biggest drawbacks to double taper lines are the fact that it's long belly section takes up a lot of room on the reel, and the fact that its design does not allow it to cast very well long distances or into the wind. The double taper floating line is a popular line, second only to the weight-forward floater.
